Feline Residents

The Cat Clinic currently has four feline residents.

Goose has been with the Cat Clinic also since 1996, at 8 weeks of age. Although he isn't able to donate blood due to his rare blood type, he serves us well by offering demonstrations on how to take a pill and other forms of medications. He is usually found sleeping behind the reception counter with Jack.

Lenny came to live at the Cat Clinic in 2006 at the age of 2. He was adopted from a feral colony. Despite his upbringing, he is a very friendly cat. Lenny can often be found stealing chair cushions from clients in the lobby and sleeping the day away. Unfortunately, Lenny is unable to donate blood due to a medical condition of his own, but he enjoys testing new foods and toys.

Pirate joined the Cat Clinic in October, 2008 at approximately 4 weeks of age. He was part of litter that was found abandoned in an alley in Santa Ana. After fixing up the litter they were all adopted out. However, due to Pirates congenital eye problems, we decided that he should stay at the Cat Clinic because he may require continued medical care for his eyes. Despite only having one functional eye with only partial sight, it doesn't stop Pirate from causing mischief with his best friend Georgia in the lobby. Pirate has already donated blood to 2 kitties and hopefully will save many lives in years to come. Favorite past times include; stealing toys from the retail area, joining clients in exam rooms, and playing tag with Georgia.

Georgia was brought to the Cat Clinic in December, 2008 at 4 months of age. She was unwanted by her owners who were moving away and was going to be abandoned. We took her in with the plan of adopting her out to a new home. However, Georgia had other ideas. She quickly became best friends with Pirate who had become lonely after all of his siblings were adopted out. We decided that Pirate and Georgia had become too close and it would be cruel to separate them, so Georgia became the newest member of our feline family. Georgia has donated blood to save 2 kitties so far, and hopefully will save many more. Georgia has quickly become a favorite of clients because she is almost always greeting people waiting in the lobby area. Georgia's favorite past times include; Helping Pirate steal toys from then retail area, playing tag through the hospital, and dare-devil walking on the wrong side of the railing in the lobby.

Past Feline Residents

Jack came to the Cat Clinic several years ago when we were in search of a new hospital resident. He saved the lives of several cats by making blood donations to kitties in need. Unfortunately, he was only able to donate blood for a short time before health problems of his own were disgnosed. Despite a brave battle, his chronic renal failure was getting the best of him. On July 1, 2009, we decided that Jack had given all he had to the disease and he made the trip over the rainbow bridge into kitty heaven.

Ruggles joined the Cat Clinic family in 2002 at the approximate age of 10. Ruggles donated blood to save the lives of several cats through the years. However, due to her advanced years, she was not able to donate for long. In her later years, Ruggles suffered from severe arthritis. Despite this, she continued to journey to her favorite spot on the front desk every day. In October, 2008, she was diagnosed with an aggressive Mast Cell Tumor. She battled her disease bravely for over a year. On January 6, 2010, Ruggles told us it was her time to go and so we made the loving decision to send her to kitty heaven.

Pete came to the Cat Clinic when he was just 8 weeks old in 1996. Pete was the primary blood donor for many years and donated to more than thirty cats in his lifetime. Pete was a favorite of many current and past employees as well as a favorite of many clients. In October, 2008, Peter was diagnosed with a fibrosarcoma. The tumor was located near his hip, so he was not a candidate for amputation. He battled the cancer for just over a year. When Pete became uncomfortable from the cancer, we made the difficult decision to end his pain on December 2, 2009. He will forever be in our hearts.
